Vier Jahre hat Singer-Songwriterin Celine Cairo sich Zeit gelassen, um einen neuen Sound und einen neuen musikalischen Weg zu finden. Nachdem sie ihre ersten Schritte gemeinsam mit ihrem damaligen Mentor, dem britischen Musiker Fink unternahm, erschien 2016 ihr Debütalbum „Free Fall“, das die in Amsterdam geborene Musikerin zusammen mit ihrer Band und Produzent Bill Lefler aufnahm. Seitdem hat sie sich, wie sie es selbst beschreibt, auf einer intensiven, aber wunderschönen Reise befunden. Das Ergebnis ist die frisch erschienene neue Single „Bird Song“, die Celine Cairo in London aufgenommen hat. Produziert wurde er von Tim Bran, der unter anderem mit London Grammar, Halsey und La Roux gearbeitet hat. Die Arbeit an „Bird Song“ beschreibt sie wie folgt:
„For the past four years I have been on an intense but beautiful journey, building and shaping a new sonic universe. I aimed to create something profound and real, something that thrilled me, scared me at times, something to be genuinely proud of. I eventually found my voice between London and Amsterdam, working with Tim Bran and my band. “Bird Song” marks one of the highlights on that journey for me. It talks about our complicated relationship with the natural world and what it means to lose touch with it. Tim and I wrote it late one night after we’d worked on another song for two days. I was about to pack my things but we ended up diving into this ethereal vibe and I was so tired that I couldn’t think, I was just completely in the zone. We wrote this song in maybe two hours and ended up keeping the demo vocal because it was just impossible to beat it. I felt it made sense to release this song first because it feels like one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written.“
„Bird Song“ ist ein schwermütiger Popsong, in dem Celine Cairos intensive Stimme voll zum Tragen kommt und der neben seiner Schwere, ganz wie der titelgebende Vogel, auch etwas Schwebendes hat. Es ist der erste Vorgeschmack aus ihrem neuen Album, das 2021 erscheinen wird.
