Chef’Special

1. Please introduce yourself in one sentence.

We’re 5 Dutch guys who’ve been making music together for some time now, while somehow still feeling like we just got started, hoping we can stay curious and honest in this life through our music while hoping it triggers other to do the same.

2. If your music was something to eat, what would it taste like?

Umami, sweet and salty, with a hint of sour. And sometimes it can be bitter too. Like life itself.

3. Which film would your music be the perfect soundtrack to?

It’s hard to think of an existing one because we play lots of different styles that fit different moods. But it would be cool if one of our songs would be used in a movie like „Finding Nemo“. Or a movie by the Coen Brothers.

4. Do you remember what you did at this point one year ago?

We were in Curacao for a show. It was one show and a few days off, so it was actually a nice vacation as well.

5. Where would you like to be/what would you like to do in one year from now on?

Exactly one year from now we’d like to be at the Reeperbahn Festival again!
And in general we’d like to be doing lots of shows in Germany and other places, and we will be working on new music.

Donna Blue

1. Please introduce yourself in one sentence.

We are two people in love writing and playing sultry indie pop, under the influence of sixties yé yé, Lynch movies and old Hollywood romance.

2. If your music was something to eat, what would it taste like?

Black coffee and cherry pie.

3. Which film would your music be the perfect soundtrack to?

A 60s French movie about a couple on their honeymoon witnessing a crime passionel in the Hollywood hills, car chases included.

4. Do you remember what you did at this point one year ago?

Getting ready to join the largest traveling music festival on tour throughout the Netherlands, while prepping the release of our single „1 2 3“.

5. Where would you like to be/what would you like to do in one year from now on?

Writing the soundtrack to a 60s French movie about a couple on their honeymoon witnessing a crime passionel in the Hollywood hills.
Or maybe work on an album.

Feng Suave

1. Please introduce yourself in one sentence.

Hi, we’re Feng Suave from The Netherlands, we’re good friends cracking tunes together.

2. If your music was something to eat, what would it taste like?

It would taste like grandma’s fried plantain with honey.

3. Which film would your music be the perfect soundtrack to?

Gee, I don’t know. Perhaps a tacky romcom or a low budget sci-fi movie. Maybe a cheap conspiracy documentary on youtube.

4. Do you remember what you did at this point one year ago?

We were doing the same things, playing shows, recording music etc., but perhaps less capably.

5. Where would you like to be/what would you like to do in one year from now on?

One year from now we want to have released more and better music and play shows in warmer countries and drink more negronis as well as a leisurely tan and a general sense of purpose and stability.

Someone

1. Please introduce yourself in one sentence.

My name is Tessa Rose Jackson, I release psychedelic pop music and  colourful surrealist art under the name Someone.

2. If your music was something to eat, what would it taste like?

That’s an amazing question. Okay. I want to say something that could be considered comfort food. I like to think it would taste like something your mum used to cook for you, a dish that nobody else could make quite as good as she did. But this time it’s got a secret ingredient. Something you weren’t expecting. Something contrastingly sweet or salty that pops out of the mix and makes you go: ‘Ooh! I thought I knew what to expect, but this is different.’ And maybe you like it. Maybe it makes the dish more special because of it. Or maybe you don’t like it at all. I guess it depends on whether or not you like surprises.

3. Which film would your music be the perfect soundtrack to?

If Michel Gondry and David Lynch teamed up to make a movie like „Magnolia“… then that one. Preferably starring Frances McDormand.

4. Do you remember what you did at this point one year ago?

I have a photo diary so I looked it up! Exactly one year ago today (September 6 2018) I spent all day working on new tracks in my home studio and later that night two of my best friends came to play video games and eat popcorn. In general, September 2018 was all about rehearsing and putting together our live show, which was quite a hefty job because I was looking for a way to combine the musical performance with something visually exciting. In the end, I created full-length animations for each of the songs we play live, and build a set-up with gauze screens that we put in front of the band as we play. Projecting the animations onto these screens creates a trippy 3d effect and allows us to mess around with perspective and sense of depth! It was quite a mission!

5. Where would you like to be/what would you like to do in one year from now on?

One year from now… I hope to be slowly releasing some of the new tracks I was writing back in September 2018 actually, as part of my debut album. I hope to have developed a new artistic concept behind the release of it. And I hope to be playing some exciting festivals, both in my home country of the Netherlands and abroad! And yes, okay: in my ultimate dreamworld fantasy… That Gondry/Lynch/Magnolia collab would be in the making and I’d be scoring the whole thing! Dare to dream, right?
