„Hunter“ ist das Album, mit dem sich Anna Calvi 2018 auf dem Höhepunkt ihres Schaffens präsentierte. Ihr Songwriting, ihr Gitarrenspiel, die Produktion gemeinsam mit Nick Launay und nicht zuletzt die energetisch extrem befreiten Live-Shows – alles zusammen schien Anna Calvi noch einmal auf ein neues Level zu katapultieren. „Hunter“ ist ein Album, das aktueller nicht sein könnte und gleichzeitig Bestand für die Ewigkeit verspricht.
Nun hat Anna Calvi sich die Songs auf „Hunter“ noch einmal vorgenommen, sie neu überarbeitet und zum Werkkatalog „Hunted“ geschnürt, der am 6. März 2020 erscheinen wird. Mit dazu hat sie sich großartige Gäste geholt wie Courtney Barnett, Julia Holter, Joe Talbot von den Idles und Charlotte Gainsbourg. Als erste Single gibt es die Neubearbeitung von „Don’t Beat The Girl Out Of My Boy“ zusammen mit Courtney Barnett zu hören. Über die Ursprünge des neuen Albums und die erste Single sagt Anna selbst:
„During a break from touring I went back and listened to the first recordings I ever made of ‘Hunter’. These recordings capture the very moment I first wrote these songs, and recorded them on my own, in my attic studio. I find something especially intimate about sharing these most private recordings with my favourite singers and asking them to lend their voices and artistic sensibility. Courtney Barnett is an amazing artist. Her voice and guitar playing together are mind blowing. Her ability to connect the profound to the smallest moments of human experience is the unique talent of a true artist.“
