Der britische Electro-Künstler, DJ und Produzent Jon Hopkins wird am 12. November 2021 sein neues Album „Music For Psychedelic Therapy“ veröffentlichen. Zusammen mit der Ankündigung hat er den letzten Song des Albums, das gut achtminütige „Sit Around The Fire“ veröffentlicht. Der Track ist eine Kooperation zwischen Hopkins, dem Produzenten, Multiinstrumentalisten und Zeremonienmeister East Forest sowie dem legendären, 2019 verstorbenen Guru Ram Dass.
East Forest befand sich im Besitz von bisher weniger bekannten Sprachaufnahmen von Ram Dass aus den Siebziger Jahren und kontaktierte Hopkins mit dem Wunsch, diese gemeinsam zu vertonen. Hopkins lies sich von Ram Dass‘ Stimme am Klavier inspirieren – die erste, intuitive Melodieführung die ihm in den Sinn kam, wurde schließlich zu „Sit Around The Fire“.
„Sit Around The Fire“ erscheint mit einem animierten Video, das von Tom Readdy und Lucy Dawkins von Yes Please Productions hergestellt wurde. Die Animationen basieren auf Seiten des Buches „Be Here Now“ von Ram Dass, welches dieses Jahr das 50. Jubiläum seines Erscheinens feiert.
Über das Album sagt Jon Hopkins:
„Music For Psychedelic Therapy is not ambient, classical or drone but has elements of all three. For me it’s a place as much as it is a sound. It works for the sober mind, but it takes on a new dimension entirely when brought into a psychedelic ceremony. In my own psychedelic explorations testing this music, I found a quote I had read would keep coming to mind. “Music is liquid architecture, architecture is frozen music”. I love this idea of music as something you inhabit, something that works on you energetically. In fact, it was while in that state that the title appeared to me. Psychedelic-assisted therapies are moving into legality across the world, and yet it feels like no one is talking about the music. but the music is as important as the medicine.“
Music For Psychedelic Therapy wird am 12. November 2021 digital und auf CD veröffentlicht und erscheint am 22. Februar 2022 auf Vinyl.
