Baxter Dury hat sein 9. Studioalbum „Allbarone“ angekündigt, das am 12. September 2025 erscheint. Produziert wurde das Album von Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence + The Machine), der den ikonischen Sprechgesang der britischen Indie-Legende in ein elektronisches Gewand gekleidet hat. Baxter Dury geht in den Club, und wir sind voll und ganz bereit dafür.
Entsprechend bekommt Dury im Video zur frisch erschienenen Single, dem Titelsong des Albums, Gelegenheit, seine nicht minder ikonischen Dance-Moves zur Geltung zu bringen. Und das auch noch in einer Gondel auf den Kanälen Venedigs. Er selbst beschreibt „Allbarone“ wie folgt:
“This is the first track that Paul Epworth and I made and it quickly established why it was a good idea that we were working together. It’s a song about sitting in the rain outside an All Bar One contemplating why what just happened, happened in the way it did.“
Entstanden ist das Album in Epworths North London Church Studios, nachdem die beiden sich nach Durys Auftritt beim Glastonbury Festival im letzten Jahr kennengelernt hatten. Ein Prozess, der ihm die Augen und damit neue, kreative Wege öffnete. Zum Album sagt Dury:
“It’s kind of a character arc that goes through the whole thing, two personalities. It’s very critical of people, this album, whoever they are, maybe some bloke with a moustache and sockless loafers in Shoreditch or a fat old Chiswick gangster lording it up in a really comfortable middle class part of London.”
Im Winter kommt Baxter Dury mit dem neuen Album im Gepäck zu uns auf Tour.
